MODEL PHONE SCRIPT:

Hello, my name is <NAME>.

I live on <STREET> in <TOWN>.

As a constituent I am calling to urge Representative <NAME> to co-sponsor and vote YES on the following amendments to the Environmental Bond Bill because protecting forests and urban trees means clean air and water, less heat, and better public health.

FORESTS:

  • Amendment # 37 - Commission on Forests, Water & Heat

    • To bring together officials, scientists & stakeholders to examine how management of state-owned forests affects their ability to mitigate episodes of drought and heat waves

  • Amendment # 86 - Protecting Forest Reserves

    • To keep Massachusetts' state forest reserves wild in perpetuity

  • Amendment # 238 - Commission on the Effects of Sand Mining

    • To protect public health, water, air & forests by developing sand mining regulations

URBAN TREES

  • Amendment # 253 - Preventing Home Insurers from Forcing Tree Removal

    • To protect homeowners from being forced to cut down a healthy tree

  • Amendment # 279 - Tree Management Plans

    • To require appropriate planning for state-funded tree planting

  • Amendment # 276 - Updates to the Public Shade Tree Law

    • To allow a fine if a tree is hit by a car, not only a horse and carriage

Please also support these amendments by contacting Rep. Michlewitz, Rep. Barber, and House leadership to express support for passing these amendments.

Thanks for taking a stand for public lands!
